Six months after adopting ChatGPT Enterprise, Madrid-based bank BBVA is optimistic about the tool’s potential.

Early results show productivity gains, with 80% of employees saving over two hours weekly.

The bank plans to expand its 3,300 ChatGPT licenses in 2025 but faces challenges integrating AI with complex internal systems.

BBVA’s employees have created nearly 3,000 custom GPTs for tasks like translating legal terms and responding to client questions.

While these tools boost efficiency, deeper integrations with company databases remain difficult.

Elena Alfaro, BBVA’s Head of Global AI Adoption, said the bank is still learning and focusing on creativity rather than immediate cost savings.

She acknowledged uncertainties about how a wider user base might adapt but remains confident in the technology’s long-term value.
