Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup is generating plenty of buzz, especially with the introduction of a new ‘camera bar’ design. However, one of the models won’t feature this fresh look. Let’s dive into what to expect.
iPhone 17 Design: The ‘Camera Bar’ Innovation
Recently, renders of the iPhone 17 have been circulating, showcasing a new design feature—a ‘camera bar.’
This sleek, horizontal camera housing will be present in most of the upcoming iPhone 17 models. However, the base iPhone 17 model won’t be adopting this new look.
What’s Different About the Base iPhone 17?
The base iPhone 17 is expected to retain the same camera design seen in the current iPhone 16.
Jon Prosser, a reliable source on Apple leaks, confirmed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the regular iPhone 17 will keep its existing camera appearance, unlike the refreshed ‘camera bar’ seen in other models.
This means that while the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will feature the new ‘camera bar’ design, the standard iPhone 17 will continue with its more traditional camera setup.
The ‘Camera Bar’ Across Other iPhone 17 Models
Aside from the base model, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have the ultra-thin ‘camera bar,’ and both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will sport this larger rectangular camera bump.
The Pro models will also feature a more advanced camera system with three lenses, whereas the iPhone 17 Air will likely stick to a single rear camera.
Will the ‘Camera Bar’ Be Missed?
While the base iPhone 17 will not adopt the new ‘camera bar’ design, three of the four iPhone 17 models will.
The question remains: will users miss the new look, or will they prefer the familiarity of the traditional camera design?
With major camera upgrades expected in the Pro models, the camera bar may still be a defining feature of the iPhone 17 lineup.
