Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is one of the biggest names in music today. At 31 years old, he’ll headline the Super Bowl 60 halftime show this Sunday. Here’s a quick look at his Puerto Rican roots and rise to fame.

Hometown:
Bad Bunny was born in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on March 10, 1994. The eldest son of a truck driver father and a schoolteacher mother, he loved music from a young age—rap on weekdays, hymns in church on Sundays.

School:
He went to Juan Quirindongo Morell High School, nicknamed La Quiri, graduating in 2012. Teachers and staff remember him as calm, smart, and creative—especially in Spanish class, where he started writing lyrics.

College:
After high school, Bad Bunny studied audiovisual communications at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo. But music was his real passion. He dropped out after struggling academically and started uploading his songs to SoundCloud, quickly building a massive fanbase.

  • Hit singles include Dakiti, Tití Me Preguntó, Yonaguni, and Me Porto Bonito

From humble beginnings in Vega Baja to the Super Bowl stage, Bad Bunny’s journey shows how talent and persistence can make someone a global superstar.
