Ariana Grande Addresses Fan Concerns About Focusing on Films Over Music Career

Ariana Grande has told fans she has no plans to give up her music career despite taking on more acting roles, including a newly announced film project.

The pop star confirmed on Wednesday that she had been cast in the film adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” This comes after her starring role alongside Cynthia Erivo in the successful movie musical “Wicked.”

In a social media post, Grande addressed concerns from fans who worried her expanding acting career might mean less music. “Singing and music is and has always been my lifeline,” she wrote. “There will need to be room made for all of it.”

The 31-year-old singer released her latest album, “Eternal Sunshine,” in 2024, which earned three Grammy nominations. However, fans have not yet had the opportunity to see her perform the new material live, as she has not toured since her Sweetener World Tour in 2019.

Grande hinted at possible tour plans, writing: “I’m working on a plan to sing for you all next year. Even if it’s just for a little.”

The singer acknowledged that balancing multiple projects, including her makeup business, means her music career “may not look exactly like it did before but I much prefer how it looks in my head.”

“I feel grateful and excited and inspired. Finding a balance between many projects and endeavours I love and doing it my own way,” she added.

Fan reactions have been mixed. Michael Rodrigues De Jesus, a 23-year-old fan from Luton, said he “internally screamed really loudly” when he saw the post and tour hint. However, he believes any potential tour would likely be “a mini tour” and “a lot of fans might be upset.”

“I’ve seen different discourses online where people are really upset that she’s doing movies,” he said, noting that the fandom appears split between those disappointed that music isn’t her sole focus and others excited to see her talents in different mediums.

Michael admitted to initially sharing some concerns: “Like are we ever going to get another tour? Has she found a home in acting that she wants to stay in forever?”

However, he ultimately supports Grande’s multi-faceted career approach. “As a fan it’s exciting to see an artist you like doing a lot of things. You get to experience their talent in a lot more ways,” he said.

Grande’s reassurance comes as she continues to balance her established music career with her growing presence in Hollywood, following the commercial success of “Wicked.”
