Anime streaming service Crunchyroll is now available through Apple TV Channels, giving users a simpler way to watch shows without opening a separate app.
The new option is now live in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and Australia. Apple TV users can sign up directly in the Apple TV app and start with a seven-day free trial. After that, the service costs $9.99 a month.
This version of Crunchyroll is separate from the normal Crunchyroll app. That means people with an existing Crunchyroll subscription cannot link their current account to the Apple TV Channel.
Users who subscribe through Apple TV will be billed by Apple. Crunchyroll says its full library of more than 50,000 episodes is available through the channel.
Apple TV Channels lets people watch content inside the Apple TV app instead of jumping between different apps. It also supports offline downloads and can be shared with up to six people through Family Sharing.
The feature has been around for years, but major new channel additions have been rare lately. That makes Crunchyroll’s arrival one of the more notable Apple TV app updates in some time.
For anime fans, the change makes streaming more convenient. For Apple, it is another boost for the TV app as it tries to keep more viewing in one place.
