Apple is preparing to release the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max in late September 2025, according to recent leaks. These new models are expected to bring several important upgrades, positioning them as Apple’s most advanced iPhones to date.
New Design and Display
The iPhone 17 Pro models will switch from titanium to a lighter aluminum frame combined with a hybrid back made of aluminum and glass. The displays will likely feature a matte anti-reflective coating, possibly using nano-texture glass similar to that found on recent iMacs and iPad Pros.
Apple’s Dynamic Island interface will be redesigned and appear smaller across all iPhone 17 models. The camera system will have a new rectangular bump with rounded edges, while maintaining the current triangular lens arrangement.
Camera Improvements
Significant camera upgrades are expected. The front camera resolution may double from 12 megapixels to 24 megapixels. The rear telephoto lens could increase from 12 megapixels to 48 megapixels.
A new dual video recording feature might allow users to record video simultaneously with front and rear cameras. Additionally, 8K video recording could officially debut with this generation.
Performance and Battery
The iPhone 17 Pro models will be powered by Apple’s new A19 Pro chip, built using TSMC’s latest 3nm process, promising better performance and energy efficiency. RAM is expected to increase to 12GB, improving multitasking and AI tasks.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to have a larger battery exceeding 5,000 mAh, which should offer longer battery life. The Pro Max may have a slightly thicker body to fit the bigger battery.
Other Features
Wireless charging will be faster, with support for 25W Qi 2.2 chargers, removing the need to use Apple’s MagSafe charger for peak charging speeds. The entire iPhone 17 lineup will include an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip, replacing previous Broadcom chips for better wireless connectivity.
Additional features may include improved cooling with vapor chamber systems, new color options such as copper/orange and dark blue, and a repositioned Apple logo placed lower on the back of the devices.
Release Timeline
Apple usually announces new iPhones in early to mid-September, with sales beginning later that month. More details about the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected in the coming weeks as the launch date approaches.
