AMD has announced that its new Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors will offer gaming performance comparable to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
The additional cores in these processors won’t significantly improve gaming but will benefit tasks requiring higher CPU power.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D features 16 cores, 32 threads, and boost clocks up to 5.7GHz. The Ryzen 9 9900X3D has 12 cores, 24 threads, and clocks up to 5.5GHz. Both processors include AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which enhances gaming performance.
However, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with 8 cores and 16 threads, delivers similar gaming results due to its 1CCD configuration, which some game engines favor.
AMD’s Product and Business Development Manager, Martijn Boonstra, stated, “The overall gaming performance of the new chips will be similar to the 9800X3D. While some games may perform slightly better or worse depending on the engine, the experience is comparable.”
For gamers and content creators, the Ryzen 9000X3D series offers a balance of high performance and versatility.
The extra cores in the 9950X3D and 9900X3D make them better suited for demanding workloads like video editing and 3D rendering, while still excelling in gaming. Both processors are expected to launch by the end of January 2025.
