Netflix has officially announced that Alice in Borderland Season 3 will premiere on September 25, 2025, along with the release of the season’s first teaser trailer. The hit Japanese survival thriller returns with more high-stakes games and a deeper dive into its mysterious world.
Directed by Shinsuke Sato and based on Haro Aso’s popular manga, Alice in Borderland follows Arisu and Usagi, two survivors trapped in a strange and deadly alternate reality known as the Borderland. In the upcoming season, the pair are seen living a peaceful married life — until strange visions and a disappearance draw them back into the dangerous game.
Returning cast members include Kento Yamazaki (Arisu), Tao Tsuchiya (Usagi), Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma. New additions include Kento Kaku as Ryuji, a man researching the afterlife, and actors Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, and Hyunri.
The new season is co-written by Yasuko Kuramitsu and Sato himself, with the returning creative team including composer Yutaka Yamada, cinematographer Taro Kawazu, and production designers Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama.
Alice in Borderland is one of Netflix’s most successful Japanese original series, with Season 2 topping the platform’s Global Top 10 list for non-English-language TV shows after its 2022 release. Its success reflects Netflix’s growing investment in Japanese live-action content.
This announcement comes amid Netflix’s broader push into Japanese originals. Other recent titles include YuYu Hakusho, House of Ninjas, and Bullet Train Explosion. Later this year, Netflix will debut Last Samurai Standing, a samurai battle-royale drama starring Junichi Okada.
As streaming becomes more popular in Japan, especially among younger viewers, the country is becoming an increasingly important market for global platforms like Netflix.
