South Korean actors Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Min Ho have shared insights into the complicated relationship between their characters in the upcoming drama Omniscient Reader, set to premiere on July 23.
Based on a popular web novel, Omniscient Reader follows Kim Dok Ja (played by Ahn Hyo Seop), who finds himself trapped inside the world of a fantasy novel he was reading. Using his knowledge of the story, he aims to prevent the world’s destruction. Lee Min Ho stars as Yoo Joong Hyuk, the novel’s original protagonist.
The drama explores the tense encounter between Kim Dok Ja and Yoo Joong Hyuk. Kim Dok Ja views Yoo Joong Hyuk as a figure he has long admired, but their meeting is strained. Kim Dok Ja approaches Yoo with a cynical attitude, while Yoo Joong Hyuk is cautious and finds it hard to trust Kim Dok Ja’s attempts to change the course of events.
Ahn Hyo Seop explained that Kim Dok Ja admires Yoo Joong Hyuk as the person he aspires to be. However, Yoo Joong Hyuk’s experiences have shaped a rigid worldview, leading to conflicts between the two. He suggested viewers focus on their motivations and goals to fully appreciate the story.
Lee Min Ho added that Yoo Joong Hyuk is naturally intrigued by Kim Dok Ja’s mysterious presence and tests him. Their evolving relationship becomes a unique bond where they closely watch and learn from each other.
