An iconic McDonald’s breakfast item is finally heading to the UK after more than 20 years of fan requests.
The McGriddle, a breakfast sandwich popular in the United States, is expected to launch at McDonald’s UK on February 3, according to food leaks shared by NewFoodSpotterUK on TikTok.
The McGriddle features bacon, egg, and cheese served between two sweet griddle‑style pancakes. The item has long been absent from UK menus, despite its popularity in other countries.
Outside the US, the McGriddle is only sold in a limited number of markets, including Canada, Australia, Japan, and parts of Asia and Central America. The UK has never officially offered it—until now.
Fans have reacted with excitement online. “Absolutely buzzing about the McGriddle!” one user wrote. Another added that its return gives hope for other discontinued breakfast items.
Some McDonald’s workers have raised questions about the egg format, as UK restaurants typically use round eggs instead of the folded egg used in McGriddles elsewhere. This could lead to a slightly different UK version of the sandwich.
The McGriddle is expected to be a limited‑time item, though strong sales could increase its chances of returning again in the future.
McDonald’s UK has seen recent success with limited offers and the Secret Menu, suggesting the McGriddle’s arrival could be one of the company’s biggest breakfast launches in years.
If the rollout goes well, fans may not have to wait another two decades to see it again.
