K-pop girl group aespa made a huge splash at the 16th Melon Music Awards (MMA), winning seven awards, including three major honors.
Held at Inspire Arena on Incheon’s Yeongjong Island, the MMA is one of Korea’s largest music award ceremonies, drawing 13,000 fans.
The quartet—Karina, Giselle, Ningning, and Winter—took home the top awards: Artist of the Year, KakaoBank Album of the Year, and Best Song of the Year.
They also won Best Female Group, Best Female Performance, Top 10, and Millions Top 10, cementing their place among K-pop’s elite.
Aespa’s success is backed by their impressive streaming achievements. Their pre-release track “Supernova” broke records, becoming the longest-running No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 chart for 2024.
Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE won Record of the Year for their album 2, and the Rookie of the Year award went to TWS and ILLIT, two new acts under HYBE Labels. Fans were also thrilled to hear (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon confirm the group’s contract renewal for future music releases.
This year’s MMA further solidified aespa’s dominance in the K-pop industry and their bright future ahead.
