Fans of the hit legal drama “Suits” have reason to rejoice as Netflix has announced the highly anticipated premiere of the show’s ninth and final season on July 1, 2024.
The news was shared during a reunion panel at the ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, featuring cast members Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Amanda Schull, Abigail Spencer, and former USA Network president Jeff Wachtel.
New Season Follows Firm Amidst Uncertainty and Change
The upcoming season will follow the evolving firm, Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, as they navigate uncertainty and change in the aftermath of Robert Zane’s (Wendell Pierce) sacrifice to save Harvey.
The core characters, including Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, Rafferty, Schull, Hill, and Katherine Heigl, will delve deeper into their personal lives than ever before, leading to the series conclusion.
“Suits” Rewatch Podcast in the Works
In addition to the season 9 premiere, the reunion panel also revealed that stars Patrick J. Adams and Sarah Rafferty are developing a “Suits” rewatch podcast titled “Sidebar”.
The podcast will offer fans a fresh perspective on the series, as Adams and Rafferty admit they’ve never actually watched the show before.
Series Resurgence After Netflix Debut
The announcement comes on the heels of the show’s resurgence in popularity after its Netflix debut in 2022. Seasons 1 through 8 are currently available for streaming in the U.S., while Seasons 1-9 have been accessible in the rest of the world.
The series spent an impressive four weeks in Netflix’s weekly top 10 during the summer of 2023, captivating audiences with its intriguing storyline and compelling characters.
“Suits” Universe Expands with Spinoff Series
As the “Suits” universe continues to expand, fans can look forward to the upcoming spinoff series “Suits: L.A.,” which was greenlit by NBC earlier this year.
Created by original “Suits” mastermind Aaron Korsh, the new project follows a former New York prosecutor (Stephen Amell) who now heads a Los Angeles law firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law.
With the final season of “Suits” set to premiere on Netflix on July 1 and the announcement of the “Sidebar” podcast, fans can expect a bittersweet farewell to the beloved series that has captured hearts and minds for nearly a decade.
