OnePlus hasn’t even had its current flagship out for six months, but leaks about the OnePlus 16 are already making waves — and the camera upgrade sounds massive.
According to a new post on Weibo from leaker Smart Pikachu, the OnePlus 16 could feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera using the Samsung HP5 sensor — the same one found in the Realme GT 8 Pro.
The Realme GT 8 Pro’s camera is no joke. It comes with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom, up to 6x lossless zoom, and a digital zoom that goes all the way to 120x. That’s a significant step up from the 50MP telephoto sensor on the current OnePlus 15.
Interestingly, an earlier leak suggested OnePlus 16 would borrow the 200MP camera from the Oppo Find X9 Pro instead. It looks like that plan was dropped, likely because the Realme GT 8 Pro’s sensor is slightly larger — and a larger sensor generally means better low-light performance.
Beyond cameras, the OnePlus 16 is shaping up to be a serious upgrade across the board. It’s reportedly getting a 1.5K flat OLED display with up to a 240Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip, LPDDR6 RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage.
Battery life could also take a huge leap, with a rumoured 9,000mAh cell paired with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.
As always, these are leaks, so treat them with caution. OnePlus typically launches its flagship series in November, so there’s still plenty of time for more details to surface.
