Sony Interactive Entertainment is retiring the “PlayStation Network” and “PSN” branding by September 2026. The company wants to bring its digital services under a single, unified identity.
The change is purely cosmetic. Core features such as multiplayer gaming, friends lists, and trophies will continue to work exactly as they do now.
Sony has not yet revealed what the new name will be. The company has given itself until September 2026 to complete the transition.
PlayStation Network has been central to Sony’s online gaming identity for nearly two decades. The service launched alongside the PlayStation 3 in 2006.
The rebrand comes as Sony looks to streamline how it presents its growing range of digital services to users worldwide.
For now, players can expect no disruption to their accounts or gameplay experience during the transition.
