Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans after allegedly getting into a fight during Mardi Gras celebrations.
Reports first published by TMZ and later confirmed by Variety state that the actor was taken into custody following an altercation that required paramedics at the scene.
Court records show LaBeouf is facing two charges of simple battery. The incident reportedly happened after several days of partying during the city’s famous Mardi Gras events.
Earlier in the day, The Hollywood Reporter published claims from local bartenders who accused the actor of “terrorising” parts of the city. Witnesses alleged he was walking around shirtless, acting erratically, and attempting to work behind a bar as a “celebrity bartender.”
Videos shared online appear to show LaBeouf in a heated confrontation outside a New Orleans bar. In one clip, he can be heard challenging people to a fight. It is not clear if that footage is directly linked to the arrest.
One bar doorman claimed the actor was asked to leave after becoming belligerent. Social media users also posted about run-ins with him over the weekend, with some expressing concern for his wellbeing.
LaBeouf has previously spoken about struggles with alcoholism and mental health. In 2020, singer FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit accusing him of abuse. The case was resolved out of court in 2025.
The arrest comes on “Fat Tuesday,” the final day of Mardi Gras celebrations before the start of Lent. Authorities have not yet released further details about the alleged altercation.
