Former Vice President Kamala Harris has launched a new social media initiative that takes direct aim at President Donald Trump and Republican leaders. The move marks a sharp shift from her more restrained approach during the 2024 presidential campaign.
The effort is called Headquarters and is backed by the progressive group People For The American Way. It is described as an online organizing project aimed at younger voters and long-term political engagement.
The new accounts present themselves as a news operation. They use the handle “headquartersnewsroom” on Instagram and “headquarters_67” on X, though the linked website currently leads to an empty Substack page.
Early posts from the accounts feature blunt attacks and mockery. One post shared an image of Trump’s bruised hands with a sarcastic caption. Another responded to the GOP’s official account with a middle-finger emoji.
One post also included a controversial remark suggesting Trump becomes excited when seeing teenage Miss Universe contestants. The aggressive tone quickly drew attention online.
This approach contrasts with Harris’ 2024 campaign style, where she often avoided personal insults and focused on themes like optimism and democratic values. The change mirrors tactics used by California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has gained attention for mocking Trump online.
In a video announcement, Harris described Headquarters as a place to get updates and connect with progressive leaders. She labeled it a Gen Z-led content hub designed to counter conservative dominance on social media.
Harris is currently promoting her memoir 107 Days and has not ruled out a 2028 presidential run. Her team says Headquarters is meant to build lasting political infrastructure rather than fade after an election cycle.
