Newly released court documents have revealed a strange and detailed email Blake Lively sent to Ben Affleck in May 2024, ahead of the release of her film It Ends With Us.
In the email, Lively begins by saying: “Ben, It’s Blake. Don’t hang up,” before launching into a mix of praise, explanation, and requests. She described her experience making the film as “the most upsetting experience I’ve ever had on a movie.”
Lively criticized the film’s director, Justin Baldoni, calling him a “chaotic clown” and alleging that he and his team “are in a cult.” She said she had to “rewrite and restrict the entire script” and described an ongoing “bake off” in the editing room.
Despite the drama, she asked Affleck for help in a friendly, almost fan-mail-like tone. She requested that he watch a preview of the film and provide “any ideas or notes,” stressing it was a “zero pressure ask.”
She also mentioned that friends including Ryan Reynolds and Matt Damon were watching the film to give feedback, joking about Damon’s role: “Can you believe Jason Bourne is watching my movie!?!? I’ll get you an autograph one day.”
Lively closed the email with a playful signature: “B’87,” adding, “If you’re still reading this, whoa. You’re not nearly as busy as you think. Or you’re a very nice person.”
The email surfaced as part of ongoing legal disputes between Lively and Baldoni, which include mutual claims related to harassment and other allegations on the set of the film.
