Blackpink is set to return to the K-pop scene with a new EP titled Deadline on Feb 27, according to YG Entertainment. The announcement was made on Thursday, ending a long wait for fans around the world.
YG revealed the news through a teaser video shared on the group’s official social media accounts. The motion graphic featured a flash of neon-pink light cutting through a black screen, colors closely linked to Blackpink’s image.
The EP shares its name with Blackpink’s ongoing Deadline world tour. The tour began at Goyang Stadium in Gyeonggi Province in July 2025, where the group became the first K-pop girl group to headline the venue with sold-out shows.
The new release is expected to mark the final chapter of the group’s year-long global tour journey with fans. It is also expected to include the digital single Jump, which was released in July 2025.
Jump achieved strong chart success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. This gave Blackpink their third chart-topping song on the ranking, a record for a K-pop girl group.
Deadline will be Blackpink’s first album in about three and a half years. Their last full album, Born Pink, was released in September 2022, while their previous EP, Kill This Love, came out in April 2019.
Despite the excitement, some fans have shared frustration online. Many expected a full-length album, especially as 2026 marks Blackpink’s 10th anniversary and their first major comeback in four years.
YG Entertainment said the album’s release was delayed to improve quality, noting that music video filming and other major production work are already complete. The group is currently wrapping up its world tour, with upcoming shows in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
