Red Bull Racing officially launched its 2026 Formula One season on January 15 in Detroit, Michigan. The event was more than a car reveal, as it marked the start of a new era with Ford and Red Bull’s first in-house engine.
The launch took place at Michigan Central Station, a famous Detroit landmark restored by Ford. The venue highlighted the city’s automotive history and underlined the importance of the new partnership.
In classic Red Bull fashion, the reveal featured a bold stunt. Aerobatic pilot Martin Šonka flew a plane through the venue, ripping away the silk cover from the car during the live show.
Red Bull Racing launched alongside its sister team, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB). Both teams will use the new Red Bull Ford Powertrains engine under the 2026 regulations.
The car shown was the RB22, but only as a showcar. It represents the new rules and not the final aerodynamic design. The livery stood out with a return to a glossy finish, ending the matte look used since 2016.
The design uses a white base with patterned blue sections, inspired by Red Bull’s 2005 debut. The team said the look is meant to feel premium and stand out under track lights.
The biggest focus was the Red Bull Ford Powertrains unit. For the first time, Red Bull has built both its chassis and engine in-house at Milton Keynes, becoming a full manufacturer.
The event also confirmed the 2026 driver lineups and leadership. Max Verstappen returns for Red Bull Racing and will race with number 3, joined by Isack Hadjar. Liam Lawson stays at Racing Bulls alongside rookie Arvid Lindblad.
The launch was led by new Team Principal Laurent Mekies, and the final RB22 will appear at pre-season testing in Barcelona from January 26 to 30, 2026.
