President Donald Trump said he believes Renee Good was a “very solid, wonderful person”, days after his administration accused her of domestic terrorism following her death at the hands of an ICE officer.
Trump made the comments in an interview with CBS Evening News, responding to a question about what he would say to Good’s father. He said Good was likely a good person under “normal circumstances.”
At the same time, Trump criticized Good’s behavior during the incident, saying her “actions were pretty tough.” He also said video of the fatal shooting “can be viewed two ways.”
The Trump administration has claimed Good used her vehicle as a weapon against ICE officers. Local and state officials have disputed that account, saying available video does not support those claims.
Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was shot and killed last week in Minneapolis during a large federal immigration operation. The Department of Homeland Security has called the operation its largest ever.
Her death sparked widespread protests against ICE and the administration’s immigration policies. Public anger has continued to grow in the days since the shooting.
Tensions escalated further this week after the FBI blocked Minnesota authorities from investigating the incident. The move drew criticism from state leaders and legal experts.
On Tuesday, six federal prosecutors in Minnesota resigned in protest after the Justice Department asked them to investigate Good’s widow for alleged ties to activist groups.
The case has become a flashpoint in the national debate over ICE enforcement, accountability, and the use of force, with pressure mounting on the administration to release more information.
