Former Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan has spoken for the first time about her 19-year-old sister Darci Rose Gibson’s death following an accidental crystal MDMA overdose in October.
Darci fell seriously ill at the Warehouse Project nightclub in Manchester and died on 21 October. Greater Manchester Police confirmed she was taken to hospital after concerns about her welfare and died the following evening. Investigations are ongoing.
Hagan said Darci, who had used MDMA before, took the crystal form for the first time. She became sick, confused, and later suffered two cardiac arrests. Doctors reported severe brain swelling caused by her body overheating.
Hagan urged young people to be cautious with drugs, saying: “Every time you take a drug, you are playing with fire.” She hopes sharing Darci’s story will warn others about the risks.
