Madrid-based LaZona Pictures has acquired the Spanish rights to the Polish biopic “Chopin, Chopin!” from Paris sales company Playtime.

Directed by Michał Kwieciński, the film will close the Seville European Film Festival, running from November 7 to 15. LaZona plans to release the film in Spain in the first quarter of 2026.

The $17.5 million production tells the story of composer Frédéric Chopin’s arrival in Paris at age 21 and his rise to fame before illness changes his life. Eryk Kulm stars as Chopin, and Lambert Wilson plays King Louis-Philippe.

The film features top Polish talent including cinematographer Michał Sobociński, production designer Katarzyna Sobańska, and writer Bartosz Janiszewski. Most scenes were shot in France, with 80% of the dialogue in French.

Óscar Alonso, head of LaZona Pictures, called the film “a European super-production” and said it marks a bold step for the company. He said the release will include partnerships with opera houses, conservatories, and music schools to reach wider audiences.

LaZona Pictures, launched in 2023, continues to expand its lineup of arthouse and crossover films. The company also distributed “The Voice of Hind Rajab,” winner of the Venice Silver Lion and the San Sebastian Audience Award.
