Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has expressed gratitude following the release of Israeli employee Avinatan Or, who spent over two years as a hostage of Hamas.

Or, an engineer in Nvidia’s VLSI group, was attending the Nova music festival in Israel on 7 October 2023 when Hamas attacked, taking him and his partner Noa Argamani captive.

Argamani was rescued by Israeli forces in June 2024, while Or remained in captivity until his recent release under a ceasefire and hostage agreement.

In a letter to Nvidia staff on 14 October, Huang described Or’s return as “profoundly moving” and praised the courage and hope of Or’s family during his captivity. He highlighted the solidarity of Nvidia employees in Israel and the company’s commitment to supporting their colleagues throughout the ordeal.

The letter also acknowledged losses suffered by Nvidia staff amid the conflict, including Amit Chayut, Danielle Waldman, and others, noting that grief has affected families across faiths and communities.

Huang concluded by welcoming Or home and expressing hope for recovery, renewal, and lasting peace.
