Anthony Richardson Exits Colts Game with Dislocated Pinky

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was forced to leave the team’s first preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night after suffering an injury.

Just eight minutes into the game, Richardson was hit hard by unblocked linebacker David Ojabo. The hit caused a dislocated pinky on Richardson’s throwing hand. He left the game and did not return.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Richardson’s pinky “popped out, popped back in” and described the injury as day-to-day.

Richardson completed two passes for 21 yards before leaving the game. He recently recovered from a shoulder injury that kept him out of practice in June.

After Richardson’s exit, former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones took over. Jones completed 10 of 21 passes for 144 yards in the first half. Rookie Riley Leonard played in the second half.

Richardson, drafted fourth overall in 2023, is in his third NFL season. He played only four games as a rookie due to a shoulder injury but showed promise with seven total touchdowns.
