NBC has announced a new comedy series titled The Paper, set in the same universe as The Office. The 10-episode first season will begin filming in early 2026 in Chicago and is expected to premiere later that year on Peacock.
Created by Greg Daniels, who also made The Office and Parks and Recreation, the mockumentary-style show will follow the Dunder Mifflin documentary crew as they turn their cameras toward the reporters of the fictional Midwest Times, a small newspaper struggling to survive in the digital age.
The cast includes Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) as the ambitious editor and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as a seasoned reporter. They will be joined by a mix of new actors playing the paper’s quirky journalists and staff.
The series will explore workplace relationships, small-town life, and the challenges of modern journalism, while keeping the humor and heartfelt moments that made The Office popular. NBCUniversal has hinted that familiar faces from The Office may make appearances, but no cameos are confirmed yet.
Fans on social media have shown excitement for the project, with many eager to see how the new setting connects to the original series.
The Paper is part of NBC’s strategy to grow its Peacock comedy lineup, building on the continued success of The Office reruns.
