BTS members V and Jimin are gaining attention from fans around the world after an unexpected link to Formula 1 racing.
V, also known as Kim Taehyung, recently mentioned his interest in F1 during a livestream on Weverse. He said he enjoys watching YouTube videos, especially movie reviews, food content, and Formula 1 races.
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team noticed his comments and responded on X (formerly Twitter). “Taehyung likes F1? Send him our YouTube link,” the team posted, tagging their official channel.
They later added another message to fans saying, “Don’t worry. We already follow him,” along with a purple heart emoji, a symbol of BTS’ fanbase. They also praised V’s solo songs, naming “Slow Dancing” and “Love Me Again” as their favorites.
Meanwhile, Jimin shared his own F1-related moment. On July 15, he posted photos on Instagram wearing a Dior outfit designed in collaboration with seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton liked the post and even shared it on his Instagram story, exciting fans from both the K-pop and racing worlds.
This growing crossover comes as the F1 world enjoys increased pop culture exposure. The new movie F1: The Movie starring Brad Pitt has drawn over 2.45 million viewers since its June 25 release. Fans have even started photoshopping K-pop idols into racing suits, creating a viral trend online.
The connection between BTS and Formula 1 has sparked talk of possible future collaborations.
BTS recently ended its group military hiatus. All seven members are back and preparing for a new album set to release next spring, followed by a major world tour.
