“Israel is killing children in Gaza. This is a war crime and violations of international law,” the North Korean statement said.
The accusation follows reports of increased Israeli military operations in Gaza that have drawn international attention. North Korea has historically supported Palestinian independence and criticized Israel, which it calls an “imperialist satellite state” of the United States.
North Korea previously described Gaza as a “huge human slaughterhouse” due to civilian casualties. The country’s latest statement reflects its ongoing opposition to Israeli actions in the region.
International organizations have documented potential war crimes in Gaza. The UN and Amnesty International report evidence of attacks killing civilians, including children, and the use of starvation as a military tactic. A UN report estimates over 18,000 children have died in Gaza since October 2023.
Israel denies these allegations. Israeli officials say their military operations target Hamas and follow international law.
The United States, Israel’s key ally, has rejected war crime accusations. American officials argue such claims create false comparisons between Israel and Hamas.
