DOJ to Meet with Ghislaine Maxwell for More Information on Epstein Case

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) plans to meet with Ghislaine Maxwell, long-time associate of Jeffrey Epstein, to ask if she has more information about the sex trafficking case that has captured global attention.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on Tuesday that the DOJ has contacted Maxwell’s legal team to arrange a meeting. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence after her 2021 conviction for helping Epstein abuse underage girls.

“For the first time, the Department of Justice is reaching out to Ghislaine Maxwell to ask: What do you know?” Blanche said in a statement. “No one is above the law—and no lead is off-limits.”

The DOJ’s decision follows growing public pressure for more transparency in the Epstein case. Earlier this month, the department released a memo stating that a thorough review of Epstein-related files found no new evidence of crimes by uncharged individuals. It also said there was no proof of a so-called “client list” that some have speculated about.

Despite this, the DOJ is now asking Maxwell directly if she has any further information, especially about other individuals who may have been involved in Epstein’s crimes.

President Donald Trump has also called for more disclosure in the case. Last week, his administration filed a motion in the Southern District of New York asking the court to unseal grand jury transcripts from both the Epstein and Maxwell cases. The government has promised to remove any sensitive victim information before releasing the documents.

David Oscar Markus, one of Maxwell’s attorneys, confirmed that discussions with the DOJ are ongoing. “Ghislaine will always testify truthfully. We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case,” Markus told CNN.

The move has been welcomed by some Republicans and supporters of Trump’s political movement, who have demanded more transparency in the high-profile investigation.

It remains to be seen what new information, if any, Maxwell may provide in the coming days.
