A new rumor from China suggests Apple is preparing to release a unique “Liquid Glass” color for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, designed to reflect the look and feel of its new iOS 26 interface.
According to a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, a leaker known as Instant Digital claims the special color will appear white but change hues depending on lighting and angle. The rumor hints at a dynamic, iridescent finish that could give the device a shimmering effect, similar to the “Liquid Glass” aesthetic of iOS 26.
Instant Digital has a mixed track record but has correctly leaked Apple products before. The leaker previously revealed the yellow iPhone 14 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2’s Titanium Milanese Loop band.
A Macworld report published on Wednesday added more fuel to the speculation. It listed white as one of the confirmed colors for the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Other rumored colors for the Pro models include copper-orange, black, gray, and dark blue.
Further confusion arose after another leaker, Majin Bu, shared images of third-party lens covers allegedly designed for the iPhone 17 series. The images showed a “Transparent” accessory instead of a white one, suggesting that Apple might be experimenting with a surprise color still under testing.
Unlike the iPhone 16 Pro, which used an all-titanium frame, the iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to feature a hybrid glass and aluminum design. This change may allow Apple to introduce new and more dynamic finishes.
Apple is expected to officially announce the iPhone 17 series in September. Until then, it remains to be seen which of these color rumors will become reality.
