Director James Gunn has officially revealed the first poster for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, following the box office success of his recent Superman film.
The new movie, set in the expanding DC Universe, will star Milly Alcock as Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El. The film is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026, with Craig Gillespie directing.
A Bold New Take on Supergirl
Gunn shared the Supergirl poster on social media, giving fans a glimpse of Alcock’s version of the character. The design of the poster plays off the marketing for Superman, featuring the House of El symbol. However, instead of the hopeful slogan “LOOK UP,” the words “LOOK OUT” are painted over it, hinting at a darker or more unpredictable tone for Supergirl.
In the poster, Alcock’s face remains hidden, but her costume is fully visible. The outfit combines elements from various comic book stories, including the classic red skirt and boots, the House of El insignia, and a nod to the Woman of Tomorrow comic arc. A brown trench coat completes her look, adding a more grounded, gritty style.
Setting the Stage for a New Kryptonian Story
Fans first saw Alcock’s Supergirl in a surprise cameo at the end of Superman. According to Vulture, the scene showed her arriving at the Fortress of Solitude after partying on red-sun planets, marking a sharp contrast with David Corenswet’s serious and idealistic Superman.
This new teaser poster suggests that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will present a more complex, possibly unpredictable character. Rather than representing pure hope like Superman, Kara Zor-El may be portrayed as a volatile force who challenges the world in unexpected ways.
With James Gunn leading the creative direction of the DC Universe, fans can expect a fresh and bold approach to the iconic Kryptonian characters.
