Taiwanese boyband F4 made a surprise return to the stage over the weekend, performing together for the first time in years during a rock concert in Taiwan. The unexpected reunion delighted 40,000 fans in attendance, who sang along as the group performed their iconic song Meteor Rain.
F4, which includes Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou, became famous in the early 2000s after starring in the hit TV drama Meteor Garden. The series first aired in 2001 and was based on the Japanese manga Boys Over Flowers. It became a huge success across Asia, turning the actors into household names and launching their music careers as F4.
During the concert, fans quickly shared emotional reactions online. Many said the group’s bond appeared unchanged despite the passage of time. “The same F4 atmosphere for 24 years,” one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Vanness is still caring, Vic is still the clingy one, Ken quietly observes, and Jerry is still the cute and spoiled oldest member.”
Meteor Rain, the group’s signature song, was the theme for Meteor Garden and remains a beloved hit for fans across Asia. The series also helped popularize the “idol drama” genre and inspired several adaptations, including Japan’s Hana Yori Dango (2005), South Korea’s Boys Over Flowers (2009), and Thailand’s F4 Thailand (2021).
The reunion comes just months after the death of their Meteor Garden co-star Barbie Hsu, who passed away from pneumonia in February 2025. Her passing was widely mourned by fans in the region.
F4 originally disbanded in 2009 but briefly reunited in 2013 for a special performance at Jiangsu TV’s Spring Festival Gala. This weekend’s performance was another rare moment for fans to see the beloved group back together on stage.
