Samsung One UI 8

Samsung returns to .5 version updates after four years, targeting 2026 release.

Samsung will release One UI 8.5 instead of One UI 8.1, bringing back the .5 version naming system for the first time since One UI 2.5 four years ago.

Release Timeline

One UI 8.5 will launch with the Galaxy S26 series in early 2026, likely in January or February. The update will then roll out to other Galaxy devices gradually.

The update will be based on Android 16 and should reach almost all devices that can run One UI 8.

Why Samsung Skipped Version Numbers

Samsung is jumping directly from One UI 7.0 to One UI 8.0, then to One UI 8.5. The company skipped One UI 7.1 because One UI 7.0 was significantly delayed, leaving no time for minor updates.

This time, Samsung will skip One UI 8.1 and 8.1.1 to release One UI 8.5 instead.

Important Notes

This device list assumes all One UI 8.0 compatible devices will also receive One UI 8.5. Samsung has not officially confirmed the final list yet.

The company has not announced whether it will continue using the .5 naming system for future updates.

Stay tuned for official announcements from Samsung about release dates and final device compatibility.
