Jennifer Aniston Stars as Toxic Mom in ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’ Apple TV+ Series

Jennifer Aniston will star in and executive produce a new Apple TV+ dramedy series called “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” The 10-episode show is based on Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir of the same name.

Aniston will play McCurdy’s overbearing, narcissistic mother in the series. The story explores the complex relationship between an 18-year-old actress on a popular children’s show and her self-absorbed mother, who enjoys being “the mother of a starlet.”

McCurdy, known for playing Sam Puckett on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” and “Sam & Cat,” wrote the memoir in 2022. The book stayed on the New York Times bestseller list for over 80 weeks. McCurdy is heavily involved in the TV series as a writer, executive producer, and showrunner. She is working with Ari Katcher, who is known for “Ramy” and “The Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show.”

The executive production team includes Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg from Merman, LuckyChap, Jerrod Carmichael, and Erica Kay. This project continues Aniston’s work with Apple TV+, where she currently stars in “The Morning Show.” The show’s fourth season will premiere in September 2025.

The series will show McCurdy’s difficult experiences growing up as a child actor under intense parental control and industry pressure. It will also explore her broader experiences in entertainment, including misconduct allegations and the darker side of children’s television.

The show combines humor with emotional depth and is expected to draw attention due to Aniston’s involvement and McCurdy’s honest storytelling.
