Clipse and Pharrell Williams gave fans a preview of Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming verse on the song “Chains & Whips.” The snippet was recorded during a rooftop session and shared on social media.

The Virginia rap duo, made up of brothers Pusha T and No Malice, played the track with producer Pharrell. The preview shows a substantial portion of Kendrick’s verse from their upcoming album “Let God Sort Em Out.”

Music journalist Rob Markman described Kendrick’s contribution as sounding like his “State of the Union,” suggesting the verse addresses important topics. The snippet only features Kendrick’s vocals, not Pusha T or No Malice.

Album Faced Label Issues

Pusha T revealed in a recent GQ interview that the Kendrick Lamar collaboration caused problems with their former label. He claimed that Def Jam and Universal Music Group refused to release the album with Kendrick’s verse due to his ongoing feud with Drake.

This led to Clipse leaving their label and eventually signing with Roc Nation to release the project. However, some details of this story remain unclear.

Album Release Details

“Let God Sort Em Out” will be released on July 11. This marks Clipse’s return after years away from making music together.

The duo has already released the single “So Be It,” which includes shots at Travis Scott. Recent interviews confirm that the track targets the Houston rapper directly.

The album has generated significant interest among hip-hop fans, partly due to Kendrick Lamar’s historic year in 2024 following his high-profile rap battles and acclaimed releases.
