YouTube to Add More AI-Generated Videos to Shorts This Summer

YouTube plans to add more AI-generated videos to its platform, especially to Shorts, this summer. The company will bring Veo 3, a powerful AI video tool, to Shorts to help creators make photorealistic videos with sound and dialogue.

Veo 3 gained attention in May for its ability to create realistic videos from simple text prompts. YouTube’s CEO, Neal Mohan, shared these plans at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. He said that Veo 3 will open new creative opportunities for users.

Mohan also highlighted how AI has already helped creators with features like auto dubbing, which has been used on over 20 million videos in six months. He believes AI will push creators to explore new formats and genres and enhance human creativity in the coming years.

Along with AI content, YouTube will start showing ads on Shorts for Premium Lite users. The company also uses AI to place ads at moments when viewers are most emotionally engaged, aiming to improve ad effectiveness.
