Apple Journal App

Apple’s Journal app, which first launched on iPhone with iOS 17.2, is finally coming to iPad and Mac. The update will arrive with iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe (macOS 26) this fall, around mid-September 2025.

The Journal app now supports cross-device syncing, meaning your entries will stay updated across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This makes journaling easier and more flexible for users across the Apple ecosystem.

On iPad, Journal supports Apple Pencil and touch input. Users can now draw, write by hand, and make notes right inside their journal. The larger screen makes it feel more like writing in a real notebook.

The Mac version focuses on typing, offering a clean layout with plenty of writing space. It features a sidebar for managing different journals, quick access to entries, and keyboard shortcuts for faster use.

The app’s design uses larger screens well, providing a distraction-free writing space. On iPad, the interface has a collapsible sidebar and works smoothly with the menu bar for better navigation.

Developer betas for iPadOS 26 and macOS Tahoe are already available, with public betas expected in July 2025. The final release is likely coming in September alongside the next iPhone launch.

After nearly two years on iPhone only, Apple’s Journal app is now becoming a complete, cross-platform tool. With Pencil support on iPad and a full typing experience on Mac, Apple is giving users better ways to capture and reflect on their daily lives.
