Snapseed Gets First Major Update in Years with Fresh Design and New Features

Google has released a major 3.0 update for its photo editing app Snapseed on iPhone and iPad. This is the app’s first big update in years, surprising many users who thought Google had abandoned it.

Snapseed was once one of the most popular photo editing apps on iOS and Android. However, it hadn’t seen any major changes since 2021, with only small updates in 2023 and 2024.

With version 3.0, Snapseed gets a complete redesign. The app now shows your edited photos in a grid view. To start editing, users can tap a new round button at the bottom of the screen. The app’s icon has also been refreshed with a simpler design.

The editor now has three main tabs: Looks, Faves, and Tools. The Faves tab is new and lets you save your favorite editing tools for quick access. Exporting photos has moved to the top-right corner of the screen.

Snapseed 3.0 also introduces a new set of creative tools, including a Film filter, along with old favorites like Healing, Lens Blur, and Double Exposure. A new arc-shaped slider makes it easier to adjust settings, but users can still swipe up or down to switch between options.

Google teased that more features are on the way. However, there is no word yet on when or if the 3.0 update will come to Android devices.

For now, iPhone and iPad users get to enjoy the fresh new Snapseed experience first.
