Pusha T has revealed that Kanye West ignored important advice he once gave him about forming a strong creative team. The rapper said he told Kanye to bring together his close friends — including Virgil Abloh, Don C, and Jerry Lorenzo — under one brand.
Pusha said this in a phone call and followed up with an email. He suggested that Kanye use the influence of his circle to build something big. At the time, Virgil was working on Pyrex Vision, and everyone was dressing like them already. Pusha told Kanye to lead the group and turn it into a real business.
Later, when Kanye complained about Jerry Lorenzo working with PacSun, Pusha reminded him of the email. He said, “Bro, I told you a long time ago you should’ve been the head of the collective.”
Pusha believes Kanye could have built a strong empire if he had listened. But Kanye didn’t act on it. Now, each of those friends has gone on to succeed in fashion on their own.
This news adds to the long history of ups and downs in Kanye’s relationships with friends and collaborators — including another one, Kid Cudi, who recently called Pusha his only real friend during his time at G.O.O.D. Music.
Fans are left wondering: what could have been if Kanye had followed Pusha’s vision?
