Eminem is making headlines again—this time for a major lawsuit against Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
On May 30, 2025, Eminem’s music publisher, Eight Mile Style, filed a lawsuit against Meta Platforms. The company accuses Meta of copyright infringement and is asking for over $109 million in damages.
The lawsuit claims Meta stored, copied, and used Eminem’s songs without permission on its platforms. It says Meta’s tools—like Reels and Original Audio—let users take his music and use it in their videos without credit or license.
Eight Mile Style is asking for the maximum fine of $150,000 per song. With a catalog of 243 songs, the total hits $36.45 million. When applied across all three platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), the damages add up to $109.35 million.
Eminem is not personally listed as a plaintiff, but the case could still impact his music business. Meta has not yet responded publicly.
The rapper’s publisher says Meta’s actions hurt the value of his music and allowed the company to profit unfairly.
Whether Meta chooses to settle or fight back, this is one of the biggest copyright battles in music right now.
