Apple could launch the AirTag 2 as early as June 2025, according to the latest reports. If accurate, the new tracking device may be revealed at WWDC 2025 on June 9.
Leaks suggest the second-generation AirTag will come with three main upgrades. First, it may include a new Ultra Wideband chip, which could boost its range up to three times longer than the current model. This would improve features like Precision Finding, already seen in iPhones and Apple Watch models.
Second, the AirTag 2 might get a more tamper-proof speaker to help reduce unwanted tracking and improve safety.
Third, it is expected to work more closely with Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s mixed-reality headset.
No major design changes are expected.
The original AirTag was released in April 2021 and is currently priced at $29 for one, or $99 for a four-pack in the U.S.
If Apple sticks to the rumored timeline, fans may not have to wait much longer to see what’s next for the popular tracker.
