CD Projekt Red is working on a new Cyberpunk game, codenamed Project Orion. This game will be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and is currently in development.
Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the original Cyberpunk RPG, shared new details during an interview. He revealed that Project Orion will introduce a second major city, described as a “Chicago gone wrong.” This city will have a very different look and feel from Night City, the setting of Cyberpunk 2077.
Although Pondsmith is not deeply involved in this sequel, he has reviewed parts of the game and visited the studio. He explained that the new city may reflect Cyberpunk lore about Chicago’s economic collapse, corporate wars, and a bio-plague — all fitting the franchise’s dark, dystopian world.
Project Orion is being developed by CD Projekt Red’s teams in Boston and Vancouver. The game will be built on Unreal Engine 5, promising better graphics and more immersive gameplay.
There is no official release date yet, but fans are eager to see how the Cyberpunk universe evolves in this next chapter.
