Can Music Help You Sleep? Apple Music’s New Playlists Say Yes

Apple Music has recently introduced a new feature in collaboration with Universal Music GroupSound Therapy—and early user feedback suggests it may be just what many need for better rest.

The new collection of playlists includes remixed tracks from popular UMG artists like Imagine Dragons, Glass Animals, and Katy Perry, designed specifically to help listeners focus, relax, or sleep.

Each playlist is built with the help of scientists and audio engineers who have embedded the music with specific soundwave profiles, such as gamma beats for focus, theta beats for relaxation, and pink noise for sleep. The subtle additions create an immersive background that can help listeners ease into their desired state of mind.

For one Apple Music user, the Sound Therapy sleep playlists have completely changed their nighttime routine. Previously struggling to agree on bedtime audio with their partner, the couple found a middle ground in Sound Therapy’s ad-free, calming audio environment.

Using a Symfonisk speaker connected via Sonos, they now fall asleep to soothing soundscapes like rainfall and soft crackles, resulting in better sleep quality and less nighttime frustration.

While the Focus and Relax playlists haven’t completely replaced their usual music preferences, they’ve still earned a spot in daily rotation. However, it’s the Sleep playlists that are gaining the most praise, especially for their seamless integration with smart home setups and their ability to replace more distracting bedtime routines.

As more users discover these playlists, Apple Music’s new Sound Therapy feature could become a go-to solution for stress relief, deep focus, and restful sleep. The full collection is now available to all subscribers and can be found by searching “Sound Therapy” within the app.
