Spotify has introduced several useful updates to its app interface that many users might have missed. These new features aim to improve your music and audiobook experience.
One of the biggest upgrades is to Spotify’s AI DJ, first introduced in 2023. The AI DJ now lets you talk directly to it and make specific music requests, such as “Surprise me with some indie tracks” or “Play electronic beats for a run.” This makes discovering new music more interactive and personal.
Spotify also added a new toggle to disable the Smart Shuffle feature. Smart Shuffle tries to add new songs to your playlist to help discover music, but some users found it repetitive. Now, you can turn this off in the settings and keep your playlist just how you want it.
Another handy feature is the ‘30-Day Snooze’ button for songs you don’t want to hear for a while. Instead of removing songs from your library, you can temporarily pause them, helping to refresh your playlists. This feature is currently testing with Premium users and will be available to more listeners soon.
Finally, Spotify is improving its audiobook experience in the U.S. Users can now purchase audiobooks and add listening hours (‘Top Up’) directly through the app. This change comes after Apple eased restrictions on the App Store, allowing Spotify to share more savings with listeners.
These updates show Spotify’s focus on making music and audiobook listening more flexible and enjoyable for its users.
