Nexon has announced Season 3 of The First Descendant, titled “Breakthrough.” The update arrives this summer and adds major content to the free-to-play looter shooter.

Players will explore a new battlefield, ride hover bikes, fight in large raids, and see a crossover with NieR: Automata.

The new map is called Axion Plains. It is a large field affected by storms and filled with dangerous enemies. To help players move faster, the update adds Hover Bikes. All players get one bike for free just by logging in. Stronger versions can be found during gameplay.

A new raid mode called Colossus Field Raid will feature an eight-player battle against a huge boss named Wall Crasher. Players can ride bikes into the raid before fighting the boss.

The game is also adding a social area called the Lounge. This space lets players relax, decorate with items, and display their characters.

A former NPC named Nell will become a playable character. She uses psychic powers to attack enemies and deal heavy damage. The update also adds a stronger version of Luna called Ultimate Luna, and more powerful characters will arrive in future episodes.

For the first time, The First Descendant will have a crossover event with NieR: Automata. The collaboration includes outfits for 2B, A2, and a damaged version of 2B. These are cosmetic only, with no effect on gameplay.

New weapons like swords will be added as well. The first sword, Shadow Blade, includes a special dash attack. Two more sword types will appear later in Season 3.

The First Descendant is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
