NBC has officially canceled Suits LA, a spinoff of the hit USA Network series Suits, after just one season. Despite high expectations and the return of fan-favorite original cast members like Gabriel Macht and Rick Hoffman, the legal drama starring Stephen Amell failed to capture a significant audience.
While Suits LA initially garnered attention with an OK premiere, ratings quickly dipped. Viewership hovered around the 1 million mark in recent weeks, with minimal growth despite efforts such as a Thursday night marathon of Suits LA repeats.
The series, which aired on Sunday evenings, struggled both on linear TV and streaming platforms, failing to benefit from the resurgence of the Suits franchise on Netflix.
Suits LA follows Ted Black (Stephen Amell), a former federal prosecutor in New York who reinvents himself as a high-powered attorney in Los Angeles. Despite a creative improvement over the season, it became evident that the series was not resonating with fans, leading NBC to cancel it.
The decision to axe Suits LA comes as NBC makes room for 180 hours of NBA coverage next season under their $2.5 billion deal with the NBA. Suits LA joins fellow NBC cancellations The Irrational, Found, Night Court, and Lopez vs. Lopez.
Created by Aaron Korsh, Suits LA featured a notable ensemble cast, including Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. The show also boasted guest appearances from John Amos, Victoria Justice, and Patton Oswalt.
