Apple is planning some exciting new updates for Siri with the release of iOS 19 later this year.
After some time of slow progress, Siri is about to get much smarter and more useful. Here are three major improvements coming soon.
1. Personalized Siri Assistance
One of the biggest changes coming to Siri is its ability to provide personalized help. With iOS 19, Siri will use your Apple data to offer more tailored assistance.
For example, if you ask, “Play that podcast Jamie recommended,” Siri will find and play the episode, even if it was mentioned in a text or email.
If you ask, “When is Mom’s flight landing?” Siri will track the flight and give you the real-time arrival time. This new ability makes Siri much more useful and connected to your life.
2. True Hands-Free Computing
For years, Siri has been limited in what it can do. While it could handle simple tasks like setting timers or playing music, it didn’t offer much for hands-free computing. That’s about to change with iOS 19.
Siri will support hundreds of new actions, including multi-app requests. For instance, you could say, “Add the photos from this morning to my Birding note,” and Siri will take care of it without you needing to open the Photos or Notes app. This makes Siri much more powerful and flexible for everyday tasks.
3. Onscreen Awareness
In iOS 19, Siri will gain the ability to understand the content on your screen. This means you can ask Siri to take actions based on what’s currently visible.
For example, if someone texts you their new address, you could say, “Add this address to their contact card,” and Siri will do it for you. This feature will be useful on iPhones and will also work on the Vision Pro, providing even more hands-on assistance in different apps.
With these new upgrades, Siri is set to become a much smarter assistant in iOS 19. We can’t wait to see how these features work when iOS 19 arrives this fall.
