Bethesda has officially announced the long-awaited Oblivion Remastered, and it’s available right now on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S for $49.99 or as part of Xbox Game Pass.
This remaster of the nearly 20-year-old game has been completely overhauled with Unreal Engine 5 by developer Virtuos, making it a full remake, not just a remaster.
Every asset in the game has been redesigned from scratch, resulting in huge improvements, especially in the graphics and animations. The shadows and lip-sync technology have also been upgraded, bringing the game closer to modern standards.
In addition to the visual upgrades, the gameplay has been updated to fit modern expectations. The leveling system now combines the best elements of both Skyrim and Oblivion.
The game also features new mechanics like sprinting, improved third-person view, updated UI for various systems, and reworked enemy scaling. There are also changes to non-combat perks and encumbrance.
Bethesda has included the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions in this remastered version. For those looking for more content, there’s also the Deluxe Edition, which includes bonus quests, unique armor, a digital artbook, and the official soundtrack.
The remaster was leaked earlier this year and has been officially confirmed as part of Bethesda’s plans to bring this classic game into 2025 with significant upgrades.
