Ryan Coogler is already preparing for his next major project following the success of Sinners, and it’s one that fans of the supernatural drama genre will be excited about.
The director confirmed that he is working on a reboot of the iconic X-Files series, a project he first began developing in 2023.
In a recent appearance on Last Podcast on the Left, Coogler shared his enthusiasm for the series, stating, “I’ve been excited about that for a long time and I’m fired up to get back to it.”
He hinted that the new episodes, if done correctly, will deliver some truly frightening moments. “Some of those episodes, if we do our jobs right, will be really f**king scary,” he teased.
Coogler also confirmed that he has been in talks with original X-Files star Gillian Anderson about returning for the reboot.
Anderson, who starred as FBI agent Dana Scully, is currently finishing production on Tron: Ares, but Coogler expressed optimism about her involvement, saying, “She’s incredible and fingers crossed there.”
He also added that they are aiming to create something special for both long-time X-Files fans and new viewers.
Stay tuned for more details as the project develops. Coogler’s involvement promises an exciting new chapter for the beloved series.
