Drake Shifts Focus to UMG After Settling With iHeartMedia Over Kendrick Lamar Diss Track

Drake has officially settled his legal dispute with iHeartMedia over the airplay of Kendrick Lamar’s song Not Like Us.

The rapper initially claimed that Universal Music Group (UMG) made illegal payments to iHeartMedia to boost the song’s presence on the radio.

However, a recent court filing in Texas’ Bexar County confirmed that both parties have reached an agreement.

An iHeartMedia source told Rolling Stone that Drake dropped his petition after receiving documents proving the company did nothing wrong. “No payments were made – by either one of us,” the source stated.

While the court documents do not include this detail, they confirm that both sides resolved the dispute amicably.

Drake’s legal team emphasized that this dismissal does not apply to his claims against UMG. This means his legal battle with the music giant is still ongoing.

The timing of this resolution is also significant, as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is currently investigating iHeartMedia for alleged radio airplay manipulation.

With iHeartMedia now out of the picture, Drake appears to be focusing all his attention on UMG. His legal team has made it clear that the rapper is still pursuing claims related to the alleged payola scheme.

For now, iHeartMedia can move forward without any further legal challenges from the Toronto superstar.
