Calvin Harris is stepping into country music with his latest song, “Smoke the Pain Away.” The Scottish DJ and producer posted a short clip on March 5, showing himself singing and playing guitar.
In the video, Harris sits with an acoustic guitar, performing a heartfelt verse: “Too late I’ve been up for days, I can’t even see straight, no I can’t smoke the pain away.” The song has a country feel, and Harris confirmed in the caption that it is “coming soon.”

This marks Harris’ first release since his 2024 track “Free” with Ellie Goulding. Fans, including his wife Vick Hope, are already excited, with Hope commenting, “Those vocals… YEEEESSSSS!!!”
Harris is not the first dance artist to explore country music. Avicii blended country and electronic music in Wake Me Up (2013), while Diplo released country projects under his real name, Thomas Wesley. However, it remains unclear if “Smoke the Pain Away” will include any dance elements or stay purely country.
With no scheduled performances for 2025, Harris seems focused on music production. Fans now eagerly await the full release of “Smoke the Pain Away” to hear his new direction.
